To Thrive or Not to Thrive That is the Question!

In seasons of life, Communication, Entrepreneurship, personal growth, Thriving on 05/10/2010 at 4:53 pm

One of the most popular shows on TV is Lost, it has a picture of survival so vividly, so extreme. People who are running from one disaster to the next. I am sure I don’t have to explain the show to you. Most likely you are one of the millions who watches the show every single week that it is on. I have not been an avid fan of Lost although I have watched one or two episodes. The acting is really good. I just can not regularly watch a show called LOST. But that is whole different blog planned for the future.

Survival is a great thing. Having the ability to be strong in times of adversity is very important. But seriously the question is relived. What is the difference in thriving vs surviving? It is very simple. The problem is that it is so simple that we often over look the answer.

I see people all around me who survive very well. They barely make the rent and have no idea how they are going to pay next months. That is simply not thriving in my book. You can look at two people they way they live. They make the same amount of money have very similar life styles yet one thrives and the other survives. What is the difference? What choices are being made that make such a large difference in the way they live life on a daily basis. How can we all make new choices today to change our lives from survival mode into truly thriving?

  1. Desire – the want to. As my coach and mentor Dani Johnson has so often said. I will take desire over skill every day. Desire is the one thing and moves you. Motivation only lasts so long desire with in your soul can not be replaced or faked. Developing a desire to change your life and lives of others around you can developed and it must be for long term change.
  1. Skill – I am often amused at people who go around the Internet broadcasting they can help build other people businesses or incomes with out the other person doing anything. Really seriously are you crazy? If you really looking for long term change, you must grow and develop skill. When you were a kid you first had to learn basic skills to get to the point where you could attend school. Then you grew up continued your education but what every it was that you did you had to learn something. You had to have a mentor, teacher or coach who would help you learn because they had the skill. In life and business we often stop learning and start settling. Taking on a new skill to get new results is very important.
  2. Relationships- Having the right people in your life is as important if not more than having even desire. The people we surround ourselves with help us keep our focus or not, shape the way we view the world and ourselves. In the Bible the original success book says Iron sharpens Iron, it also talks about how we are not to be unequally yoked in business, friendships and marriage. The mindset of those closet to you will help or hender you. The choice is up too you. Having the right team of people around you will help you change your life.
  3. Systems – You ask me what systems will do for me. Another way to think of system is planning. It takes all most everything out of the what if. You will never know exactly what is going to happen. But if you know what you are going to do if something similar to this happens then you have a system. Are you looking to change your life, your business, your income, your family. Changing how do things will change your results. Knowing that you operate out of the desire, skills, relationships and systems that you have in place will allow you to know what areas to work on. If you don’t know what you are going to do. Survival mode will kick in and you will start digging yourself a hole that could the a trap for the rest of your life.

Now its your choice what are you going to do?  Are you happy surviving or are you going to make the changes that will help you take life to next level?  Are you serous?  We are actively seeking qualified individuals who are looking for change today?  go to www. 2percenters.com
