Mindset Changes Reality

In mindset, personal growth on 12/28/2009 at 11:45 pm

The Mindset

Everyone has a mindset, a theory around the way we live life and the decisions we make or don’t. This is one of the most important things to develop and to change over time. Working with businesses I can look at a persons mindset and determine who will be the business standing in 2 years 5 years and beyond. I spoke today to a lady/ business owner who had a very stuck mindset. If you are loosing money in your business now when it is small and you think expanding is the best way to change that. Most likely you will only lose more money. There has got to be a change in the way you do things to get better results. Throwing money at an idea that is not working will not help it. There has got to be a change in mindset. It does not matter if you are thinking about relationships, businesses, home, money, school or whatever. The theory of insanity does hold to be true. If you keep doing the same thing thinking you are going to get new results, it simply will not work. So what does make the change?

The Change

YYes, every single one of us needs a change in our mindsets, we need to change the results in our home, business, education, relationships and more. Technology can help us , but realty is we will need to do the work to do make it stick. If you have potential clients calling you, this is great. But you must have the ability to handle the business they want to bring your way.  Otherwise that contact will be useless and bring no profits. No profits means eventually you will need to something else to make your life work, and you will go out of business.

Most of us fight change when it is actually the one thing that is our friend our ally. It will help us create the new mindset. It will help us understand where we are and what it will take to move forward to creat our goals

The Reality

To have change you need to know where you are. What is your mindset? What is the results you are currently getting? Your real reality not just what you see but getting statistics of results tracking your activity and even getting an outside source that can help. Professional coaching would be an excellent place to start. Asking friends and co workers to tell you what they think. Be careful who you ask.  Others who are not afraid to tell you the truth. A real friend who you can trust to be honest in times of good and bad. This is not just anyone and many of us only have one or two people in our lives that would this honest.

The Results

We all have results from what we do everyday. I know I am looking always for better results. I am looking to be able to help my kids more, improve my business, keep my life more organized, get and stay of debt, not have to worry about money and what needs to be done. But the results will change with the mindset if that does not change NOTHING WILL

My Life is ???

In seasons of life, Uncategorized on 12/27/2009 at 5:40 pm

Can you believe Christmas has come and gone again?( And it was white for the first time since 1928 in Dallas) That the year of 2009 only going to be here a few more days!! Our home at this time of year is crazy coming and going of kids, inlaws, out laws, friends, neighbors and more! We are a mixed family with 6 teens, one in college and a 5 year old. Besides all us “adults”. Holidays can be nice but never slow. This week was no exception to the rule. We had 8 teenagers in our home just to start. That sometimes can be enough to scare you out of breath, without the cooking cleaning shopping, and surviving all the events. But if you are a person who has been reading my blog for any length of time you might have heard this before. Another year has come and gone and everyone is one year older, and it wont be long till everyone is college or off. I am not sure how I will feel about that then. I do know it does not sound pleasant. :) I know I must be a strange bird but I thrive on the activity and my favorite time of anything is when my kids are home. Hearing them play, having time to just talk or watching them interact with all the family.

Being part of such a great family is fun and exhausting. These days after Christmas often can be quiet in comparison the kids want to sleep and relax. I usually try to get the house cleaned up and work on my goals for the coming year. I don’t know why I am always so reflective on these days. Seeing where I am and where where I need to go. Today I am more excited about this than I have been the future and what is going to taking place this coming year than I have been in a few years. I can feel see and hear the hand of God on our lives and the guidance He provides us. Not that growth is easy, that would not be growth. But it is worth it in the long term, it will help be a better Mom and have the ability to teach them through the way that does work, not just saying it but doing it. I get tired of parents who say one thing and do another. It is so condescending, makes the kids feel like their parents feel like they are an idiot. The funny thing is how much I have learned about life and business through the eyes of my kids. Watching them and seeing what their eyes see and understand teaches me so much about people and how to have a good working relationship with people of all types.

We so often think we know everything about a person their life and what motivates them, what they want. When the problem we don’t even understand that about ourselves. We just go from day to day never really accomplishing much and thinking that there is some unusual reason that we are unhappy with our life. The real problem is we don’t know what we need to do and where we are going. I know I have had that many times in my life. So today will be the start what I call the definition. It takes me time and also the ability to listen to my God and what He is showing me that I need to be focused on. Its not all about money or getting more stuff, its about going where He wants me to be and being focused. I don’t want to wander on this ball of dirt until its my time to go to the next world, never doing anything for anyone including myself. I would love to help others change lives and be able to accomplish what others don’t. I don’t want a MLIA! That is just not for me. I know the kids read it and it can be fun. But do you want your life to be average or amazing?

I will post the goals as soon as I get them done. Please post your link for yours.

What truth?

In Successful Living on 12/18/2009 at 5:30 pm

I don’t know about you.  But I am seriously tired of businesses that tell us what ever it takes for us to choose them to fill the need that has arrived in our lives. It not only frustrates me short term but certainly turns me off to use them again.

Why do we as business owners have such a short term mindset that we think that we can make just one sell today?  It’s like we are not going to be in business very long.  As a business owner and a client of many businesses, I want to work long term with others around me. I would like to bless others through the business I conduct everyday, not just look out for my pocket.

Ok I am going to tell you the real story and what got me on this brain wave. J

This morning I woke up with my oldest bonus kid home from college.  We are so excited to have the opportunity to spend time with her.  She is such a blessing in our lives, and her presence makes all of us happy. What a blessing she is in our lives.  Ok I know I said that twice.

Finally it was time to work.  My hubby handed me an email that came earlier in the day.  The email was from a person I had spoken to the night before; they were having some issues with one of their appliances. They had made an appointment with another company, and the signs I saw was that other company was simply not looking out for the client’s best.   So I gave her a little information on how to make sure she was getting what she needed.  In the email she explained how it helped her to get things done right and that next time she would call us first.   Now I will be honest that that kind of situation gives me a boost.  I love the feeling of actually being a blessing to others around me. Did we make a cent off of it?  No.   Am I able to do that every time? No. I wish I could say I look out for each and every clients needs above my own and these are the results I always have.   Now that is my goal.

It really does not matter what you do and who you work with, we can be a blessing to others.  We can take our daily activities and look out for the people around us.  If we do this it will set our businesses apart from the the rest.  People want to work with others who tell them the truth, the whole truth.  People want to work with others who have their best interest at heart.

What is on the inside?   Ok it’s easy to do that when we are not squeezed, when we don’t have to give up something, when we are talking about how some other company works.  But the squeeze will come!

When you squeeze a lemon, lemon juice comes out.

When you an apple, apple juice comes out.  You get the idea.   So when we are squeezed what comes out?

Lets say we gave a wrong bid or maybe a part did not work, or who knows but the client needs an advocate.  What do we do?  The inside becomes visible on the outside.    Doing the right thing is not always popular and simply not always easy, but the more we do it the easier it becomes.  The more we behave in a truthful upright way the easier it is to see truth say truth and show truth in our lives.  Therefore in truth we can be a blessing to others in all that we do.

What now????

In Entrepreneurship on 12/15/2009 at 4:08 pm

Entrepreneurship:  Not all are called to it but some are.

Not having a boss, but being your own boss. Now that takes a new level of personal development!   Seriously have you seen the person down the street who wants to own their own business and thinks checking their email all day is growing their business?   Maybe that person is staring you in mirror.  I can tell you I have been their.  I have spent many days working in my business and not on my business.  There is difference.  I have been my own worst enemy many, many, times.   It can be so frustrating, having a great idea, a great product or service, starting your own business,  being so excited and suddenly it hits you I DON’T KNOW WHAT TO DO NOW.

Panic settles in and then we start doing what ever can be thought of.  Suddenly your spending hours designing a website, or playing on facebook all for the sake of “ working”.  But it is about results after all.  Ultimately if we don’t make the money that is needed why did we waist the time and energy not doing something else.

When our country was founded it was started on the back of the entrepreneur and those entrepreneurs’ did not have the option for failure. If they did not succeed their families lives were in danger.  Taking our businesses to the next level takes not only skill. It takes a new mindset, personal development, and endurance.

Someone can be very good at what they do and never have a client.  A change of mindset is the most important change that can take place in the marketplace today. People are looking for businesses that don’t do business and normal.  They have a need for some who are willing to step up and make a change in the way things are done.  They are tired of being sold on something that does nothing to change their lives.  People are tired of business who are their to only scratch their own backs. A time for change has arrived. There are many examples of this if you don’t believe me go and book that was quite popular a few years ago “Good to Great” It will shock you but the premise is that good is the enemy of great.

Getting back on track lets talk about what we need to do right now today.   Business are not in business  just here to have make money, but that money can be way to see if are doing some of the right things.   Its hard not knowing what people do to speak to specifics.  But your job today right now is to do one thing.  That is find the person who is looking for you. It’s your time to find the person who you can bless them and help them in their hour of need.

How do I do that?

  1. Make a personal resource list ( email me for more specifics on this at nancyradkins@gmail.com)
  2. Get out where the people are, don’t sit behind a computer thinking they will come to you.  They won’t.
  3. Buttons and Signs.  You need a button on your body all the time asking a question that will get your potential client talking to you.
  4. Treat your business like a job.  If you treat it like a hobby it will pay you like a hobby.

Do I speak or Do I learn?

In Communication on 12/14/2009 at 4:41 pm

Why is it that in life and in business we think that what we have to say is most important?

So often we wish we could take back the words we have spoken!  But seriously! Why do we communicate? Is it just to hear our selves speak or to nag someone until they do it our way?  So often we have one opportunity to learn from another person.  I wish I could say I take the opportunity to learn every time.  The simple truth is when I speak I simply learn what I already understand to be true. When and if I give another person opportunity to speak I learn what their ideas, passions, issues, time frame or what ever is.  I learn how others think, feel and how they work.  Communicating is an art, not a martial art.  It is not warfare where I have to prove I am right.  It is a way I can learn and connect with another human being.

In business we want to connect with others and therefore must find ways to communicate with clients and potential clients.  We do communicate from the very first moment they look at a website, printed flyer or business card or ad.  We are speaking long before they meet us or call us.  What do they hear us say?  What do they feel us say?  Are we polite thoughtful generous?  Do we want their best?  Are we looking to help them or hurt them?  Do we accept them for who they are?

What response does our communication create in them?  Do they communicate back to us?  What do they say if they speak?

What would you do if I came up to talk to you never asked if you had time, or what your name is, I would talk to fast, speak too loud and with too much passion maybe  I would even accidently spit on your face?  Would you be happy?  I don’t think so in fact you probably would run to the bathroom to clean your face and try to get a way from me.  So why is it that we do this to our clients and potential clients?  Giving them too much information on a flyer, website or whatever will make them feel this way.  Then in return they run as well.

So how do we keep from creating this response in others?

  1. Communicate with out an agenda.
  2. Truly look out for your client’s interest.
  3. Remember why you got in business in the first place, to serve others.
  4. Ask questions.  Lots and lots of questions to see if you can actually be a blessing to this person.
  5. Listen with out your own thoughts getting in the way.
  6. Remember what you say is not the most important thing, what they say is.
